Miami Boy In Critical Condition After Accidental Shooting

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Investigation is underway after a young child was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Miami police spokeswoman Officer Frederica Burden said they received word from Jackson Memorial Hospital that a child had been brought in with a gunshot wound just after 6 a.m.

Officers were sent to the hospital and were told the child was shot inside an apartment at 112 NE 71st Street.

Blanca Perez, who lives in the apartment building, said she didn’t hear the shot but heard what happened.

“They said he got shot in the head and it was an accident.  They say he had the gun in his hand and the little boy got shot in the head but it was an accident,” Perez said.  “I’m so sorry about that, they are good people.”
