CHICAGO (STMW) — A man was crushed to death by a semi cab he was working on Monday evening in south suburban Robbins.
Authorities were called about 6:45 p.m. with reports of a man under a truck and bleeding in the 3400 block of West 136th Street, Robbins Fire Dept. Deputy Chief Donald Rush told a reporter at the scene.
“On arrival, we found a gentleman definitely under the truck,” Rush said. “It appears that he was working on his vehicle and whatever he was using for support failed on him. The truck in turn fell on him, causing traumatic injuries.”
One of the semi’s front tires was removed, and the man had apparently been working on the brakes when the truck fell on him, according to Rush.
He was extricated from underneath the truck and taken to a hospital, Rush said.
