ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Construction crews have been cleared from the Minnesota Capitol building after workers found two suspicious packages.
Adam Giorgi of the state’s Department of Administration said the packages were discovered shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday. State Patrol officers blocked off the road east of the Capitol as fire trucks and SUVs assembled nearby.
Giorgi says the packages are not thought to be explosive. The Capitol is currently closed to the public.
The state Capitol is in the midst of a massive renovation project expected to be complete in 2017.
